Pumpkin Spice Granola


Serves: 10

In keeping the spirit of fall flavors available, I’ve brought you an irresistible, festive granola recipe. 

Thanksgiving Day means pumpkin and pecan pies. But they aren’t exactly gut- or waistline-friendly.

Instead, I’ve used the same flavors with a healthy spin. This recipe doesn’t contain any sort of added sugar or grains that will keep you craving more. Your gut and waistline will thank you.

Try mixing with unsweetened almond milk for the perfect protein, high-fiber breakfast. Add a handful to a savory salad or on top of pumpkin puree for a pumpkin pie mashup!


½ cup almonds, slivered

½ cup unsweetened coconut flakes

½ cup cashews, chopped 

1 tbs pumpkin pie spice 

2 tbs sunflower seeds 

2 tbs sesame seeds 

2 tbs pumpkin seeds

1 tbs vanilla extract

½ tsp sea salt 

1 tbs pure honey 

1 tbs coconut oil, melted 


Step 1

Preheat oven to 200 degrees.

Step 2

In a big bowl, mix the nuts and seeds with the sea salt and pumpkin spice.

Step 3

Add the honey, coconut oil and vanilla extract to the bowl of dry ingredients.

Step 4

Line a sheet pan with parchment paper, spread out the granola mixture. Bake for a total of 15-20 minutes. During cooking time, mix 2-3 times.

Step 5

Allow to cool, then store in an airtight container.

Fig & Almond Butter Smoothie

If you’re looking to switch up your breakfast routine, then you’ve got to try this recipe. I’ve incorporated figs as a tasty and nutritious way to create a new smoothie. It’s almost like having a healthy dessert for breakfast!

Figs are typically in season late summer, so be sure to keep an eye out for the fresh fruit in your store in the months to come.

Otherwise, dried figs are a wonderful alternative. They are packed with antioxidants, fiber, and even immune supporting properties. As a powerful antifungal and antibacterial, figs also support your gut microbiome.

The unripe banana in this smoothie delivers a creamy texture and fiber through prebiotics, which fuels the healthy microbes in the gut to create a thriving intestinal flora.

Altogether, this delicious, refreshing smoothie makes the perfect breakfast or snack on those hot, humid summer days… or any time. 



5 dried mission figs

1 frozen unripe banana, sliced

1 ½ cups unsweetened almond milk

1 cup spinach

1 tsp ground cinnamon

2 tbs almond butter

2 scoops Happy Gut Vanilla Cleanse Protein Powder

⅓ cup fresh blueberries


Step 1

Blend all ingredients together, except for the blueberries.

Step 2

Continue to blend until smooth and creamy. Then pour into cups and top with fresh berries.

Happy Gut Summer Smoothies

Summer sometimes means going out for ice cream and sipping on lemonade. Unfortunately, these options come loaded with sugar and other inflammatory ingredients that can wreck gut (and overall) health.

When I’m craving something cold and creamy, I find these three smoothies with seasonal herbs and foods make a delicious, gut-healing alternative to sweet treats.

They all come loaded with flavor plus fiber while being low in sugar and no food sensitivities. And they include ingredients like mint and collagen to support and soothe your digestive tract.

Whether you need a quick filling breakfast or to appease your sweet tooth, all three of these recipes make guilt-free, satisfying gut-healing treats!


Basil Delight Smoothie


Serves: 2


½ cup fresh basil

⅓ cup fresh mint

2 cups raspberries

1 cup kale

½ small cucumber, chopped

1 tbs chia seeds

½  – 1 cup water or coconut water

1 scoop Happy Gut CLEANSE SHAKE Protein Powder


Step 1

Blend all ingredients together, except for chia seeds. Add more liquid if needed.

Step 2

Top with chia seeds and extra mint and basil leaves.


Creamy Cacao Smoothie


Serves: 2


2 cups blueberries

¼ cup cacao powder

½ ripe avocado

½ cup full fat coconut milk

1 cup spinach

2 scoops collagen powder

2 tbs nut butter (no peanut butter)


Mix all ingredients in a blender until smooth and creamy. Add water if needed.


Vanilla Bean Smoothie


Serves: 2


1 cup spinach

1 vanilla bean or 1 tsp vanilla paste

¾ cup full-fat coconut milk

2 tbs almond butter

1 cup frozen strawberries (optional)

2 scoops Happy Gut Cleanse Vanilla Protein Powder

1 cup ice

Mix all ingredients together in a blender until smooth and creamy.
